COLUMBIA, MARYLAND-April 25, 2000- Co-developed
by PowerVision Corporation, vLab Classroom was recently
released by Mentor Technologies, Inc.
The latest creation in Mentor Technologies'
vLab Learning System, vLab
Classroom allows students to access real hardware, software,
and networks in a controlled environment that allows students to
learn without impacting a production system.
The vLab Learning System also includes vLab,
which provides remote access to networking equipment for students
wishing to learn individually, at their own pace. Students may obtain
access to labs by using a vCard
, a virtual debit card that debits a pre-paid
corporate account. Both the vLab and vCard systems were co-developed
by Mentor Technologies and PowerVision.
On April 3, 2000, Mentor Technologies received
the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for the vLab Learning
System, which is now part of the Permanent Research Collection on
Information Technology at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American
History.
